General Modified Information For Saturday, September 24th.


Modifieds • 29 green-flag laps (cautions do not count)

• $2,900 to win $2,000 for second, $1,200 for third - min. $200 to start…

• Draw for heat-race starting spots – Draw opens at 5:15 p.m. for Modifieds on Saturday (please see order of events). 

• Redraw of top heat finishers for the feature (will be posted on race day) - Heats & Consolations - tba

• Gasoline or methanol permitted

• Sail Panels - Two sail panels permitted - 68 inches maximum height from the ground. Must be even from side to side.

- Tires: American Racer RR 48 min. LR 44 min. 33 or harder on the front. Hoosiers permitted - db 300 or harder. Can go harder on American Racer compounds as well.

• Weight 2,400 lbs. minimum all cars.

Bonus lap money posted - $290 to the leader of lap 26 from Dale and Sue Smith. There are plenty of laps available still. Laps will be paid to a randomly drawn driver running in the top 5 positions unless otherwise noted. The 13th place finisher in the Modified feature will get an extra $50 from Grant and Mary Buck.

The Don Beagell, Jr. Memorial Modified 29.

Saturday, September 24th. 

Don Beagell, Jr. made a huge impact on the northeast racing scene during the 1960’s and 70’s as a driver. He also made a big impact in many other ways. Beagell was the President of the Southern Tier Stock Car Club. The club helped to operate some of the area tracks in the 1960’s. Beagell was the owner of Don’s Automotive Mall and they sponsored many race events at all of the area speedway’s for decades.


On the track Beagell, was always a threat to win. He great pride in his major victories in the special Modified events held at Five Mile Point Speedway. He seemed to have a knack for rising to the occasion by beating the best drivers from all over the region in the special races.


Beagell, was selected as one of the original “Greatest 50 Drivers” as announced in 2000, the 50th Anniversary season at Five Mile Point Speedway. He ended his racing career with 29 Modified feature wins at the speedway, a number that he also used as his car number. His 29 wins ranks eighth on the all-time Modified win list at Five Mile Point Speedway.

Guaranteed Starting Spot For Southern Tier 72 Up for Grabs on Saturday.


The Modified race winner this Saturday will earn a guaranteed starting spot for the October 29th Southern Tier 72 paying $7,200 to win.

The Modified heat winners (and possibly runner-ups) will compete in a special "Dash for Cash" with a total purse of $1,200 being posted by the Beagell Families.  The winner will earn a minimum of $500 with all drivers receiving money that compete in the dash.

We have only a few laps left.  Lap sponsorships are a minimum of $25 per lap but we are trying to get $50 per lap.  Please support the businesses that have generously sponsored laps for this event.  Lap sponsorships will be paid to a randomly chosen driver running in the top five in the feature unless otherwise noted.
